Violin Time: Or the Lady from Montsegur
Published in Paperback by Heinemann (November, 1996)
Average review score:

Another classic work of genius from the classic geniusI saw this play at the theatre twice before I read the book. The book loses a bit because to a certain extent it is the author's face and voice that made me laugh so much, and the delivery. And the wearing of a tea-cosy on his head and David Mellor's teeth!
Violin Time was not really a play, more a collection of anecdotes (some of which I suspect were untrue), mixed with esoterics quantum physics, an infinite improbability drive [we know he's familiar with Douglas Adams] and an old Stephen Fry joke. I'm sure you get the idea that this very mixed bag proved very interesting and amusing from start to finish. Because there's such a lot in the play, this makes having a written record of the play even more important. I doubt whether Ken will perform Violin Time again, so pop out and buy the book.

Walt Disney's the Three Little Pigs

WHAT A FANTASTIC VERSION TO SHARE WITH YOUR CHILD!This edition is a reprint of the ORIGINAL Walt Disney edition from 1933! The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, full color and lavish with wonderful paintings. Although there are numerous versions of this story with numerous illustrators over the years who have retold and recaptured this story, it is refreshing in a time when everything is changing to find something, especially a classic book of a children's tale, in its original version that not only brings BACK memories, but ultimately GIVES memories to the children who are read to. The second this book appeared in our home, my child was asking for it, over and over again! This is a book to SHARE with your child as a special part of your storytelling repetoire!

Watercolor Painting on the Trail: A Hiking Artist's Handbook
Published in Paperback by Appalachian Mountain Club Books (October, 1993)
Average review score:

A gentle, skillfull guide to painting watercolors in nature. It is apparent from the first chaper of this book that Ms. Campbell is as skillfull a teacher as a painter. She gives the novice and more experienced painter a tremendous amount of information in the simplest and most engaging way; covering paper, paints, tools and little aids that can make a difference in the field. She also touches on specific aspects of nature, such as trees, rocks and yes, even simple ways to include the human figure in your work. I am painter, and of all the books on painting out of doors in watercolor, this is the most encouraging. Practical instructions on color and tools as well as a readily made kit that is lightweight and effective, are complemented by excellent guidance. I picked up great tips that are easily applied to the task at hand, such as the clever use of a blank credit card. There is also the language of a patient teacher who explains after giving an example that, "this takes lots of practice. Don't get frustrated", and you won't with this wonderful guide.
